Once on board the
submarine the pace would become very hectic. Though our hearts were heavy
at times having just left behind family and friends, there would not be
much time to spend writing letters or on extra-curricular activities so
things would be done to save personal time as it was at a premium.
At times it would
be quite easy for morale to dip low and become discouraged. We would sometimes
engage in simple things to keep ourselves on an even keel, like in the
After taking over
the vessel why not get rid of any unneccessary baggage. After all the family
isn't going to have to see us for a few months. A quick visit with the
duty clippers and we won't have to concern ourselves with hairstyles in
the midst of a busy re-fit.
